Unveiled Wedding Event – Oct 4, 2009...

You might be asking your self, what’s all this buzz about a new bridal show called “Unveiled” appearing in Dallas on Oct 4, 2009? Well, the reason you’ve heard so much buzz about this show is because, it’s going to be HUGE. Not only is this going to be a large event, it will highlight the best of the best vendors in their Couture Section. Our team at Hakim Sons Films has been honored with the privilege of becoming media partners with the producers at Unveiled, where we will not only be displaying our work, we will also be filming a marketing video and a documentary film for the event.

Charged and Ready to Go…...

The team just arrived back from this year’s WEVA Expo in Orlando, Florida and from what they shared with me, I know that they have picked up a lot of tips and tricks. We’re all excited sharing our learnings with each other and therefore, we’ve scheduled a team meeting on Friday the 25th. Some of the topics up for discussion include: new partnerships (with GetMarried.com), adding to our collection of toys (example: Canon 5D and SteadiCam), and of course, sharing knowledge and adding to our toolbox to continuously innovate our offerings.

Also, we want to thank all of our new friends from WEVA and the Guest Speakers for 3 days of inspirational sessions. We’re pumped and ready to implement…

Partnership Walk – Dallas City Hall on Sept ...

I would like to share with you information about a non-profit organization, who is hosting an upcoming event in Dallas on Sept 27, 2009. It’s always a very lively event with fun and learning for the entire family. Hakim Sons Films has partnered with this organization in their media endeavors and we will be working on producing a marketing & documentary film from this event held at the Dallas City Hall. We would like to invite you to come join us and support this great cause.

If you’re unfamiliar with Partnership Walk, here’s some background information for you:
PartnershipsInAction is an initiative of Aga Khan Foundation U.S.A. (AKF USA) and its volunteers in communities across America to raise funds and awareness to help communities in some of the poorest areas of Africa and Asia create long-term solutions to poverty. The events give Americans an opportunity to actively take part in advancing human dignity and peace around the globe through volunteerism, awareness-raising and contributions. PartnershipsInAction represents AKF USA’s growing portfolio of programs including Partnership Walk, Partnership Golf, corporate and professional networking events, film screenings, essay and art competitions, educational and schools outreach activities, among others.

Partnership Walk is a public event to raise awareness about how people can make a difference in ending global poverty. It promotes partnerships among Americans and people in the developing world. Since 1995, 40 Partnership Walks have been held in U.S., attracting thousands of participants and bringing a spark of hope to vulnerable families in Africa and Asia.

100% of the funds raised at Partnership Walk go directly to projects supported by the Foundation.

WEVA EXPO 2009...

Hakim Sons Films’ family will be leaving tomorrow morning for Orlando, Florida to attend the 19th Annual Wedding & Event Video Expo, which is the biggest convention and trade show for professional wedding & event videographers from around the world. Presented annually by Wedding & Event Videographers Association International (WEVA), this is the information-packed EXPO where videographers at all levels learn new breathtaking creativity that sells, cutting-edge techniques, compare state-of-the-art technologies, and network with fellow videographers worldwide. Over the past 10 years, we have always focused on being a leader in the wedding film industry and continuously strive for innovation and advanced education. We’re ready for another jam-packed week! WEVA 2009, here we come!!!

Love story or favorite memory: Hassan and I met when we were 15 years old on the telephone thorugh a mutual friend. He would prank call me throughout the summer making animal noises and hanging up. Eventually, I started talking to the strangers on the phone. It turns out he got my phone number through mutual friends. We spent endless hours on the phone together and stayed up all night. We didn’t however get together in high school. We ended up together at UT Austin together and my last year there we finally got together. We’ve been together off and on for seven years since then. It surely hasn’t been an easy road because of religious differences but we’ve found a way to make it work! Planning the wedding definitely brought us closer because we found each vendor and planned all the details ourselves, and in that process, we learned a lot about compromising and working together.
