What Foods To Eat On Your Big Day!

There are a variety of foods you can eat on your wedding that may seem harmless, but reality is, they can do a lot more damage than you think! Here are some tips we like to give our fellow brides and grooms for their big day. Try to stick to these tips, and you will not only fit perfectly in your outfit, but feel great too! Foods to Avoid: Salt: Whenever you eat or drink anything with higher salt quantity, more than likely you will retain water. This is due to the fact that water is attracted to salt. Finally, if you have a higher salt intake you will not only retain water, but you will also feel more bloated and puffy! Carbs: Having a high carb intake can also make you retain water. Therefore, do not over do the intake of carbs, and try to stick it in to your mornings only so you have the entire day to burn it off. On the wedding day, try not to have any carbs in the morning since there is a chance you may retain water. Raw Veggies: Try to eat your veggies, but raw! Raw vegetables will take up less space within your stomach than cooked. Gassy Foods: There are foods that can cause more gas than others. Therefore, stay away from beans, cauliflower, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, onions, peppers, milk, cheese, oats, sodas and citrus fruits. Acidic foods: Try to stay away from products high in acid because they can irritate your stomach and even cause you to swell up! Some beverages that contain high acidity are alcohol, coffee, tea, cocoa, and some juices. Also, try to avoid spicy food because of their high acid content.  Healthy Fats vs. Bad Fats: There is a big difference between good and bad fats. Bad fats like fried foods will cause your body to bloat and take time to digest. However, if you eat good fats like those contained in avocadoes, nuts, seeds, oils, and fish, you will be safe. These fats are a lot easier to digest and will not cause you to swell.  Gum: I cannot believe gum can make you bloated, but when you chew gum, you trap air in your stomach! This...

Make The Next Date A Memorable One!

Make your next time out on the town something fun and affordable! I do not know about you, but I swear life is speeding by, and I am lucky if I even have time to eat. I am sure that you are just as guilty as I am for not making time for yourself and your loved ones. Therefore, I have created a great list of apps and places to help you to not only make time for yourself and your partner, but to even make it affordable! Let me ask you a question: when was the last time you made some time for  a real date night? I am embarrassed to even say. Regardless, we all know it’s so important to make some “me” or rather “we” time. I want to start off with some great apps to help improve your date night experience! Scoutmob App: I absolutely love this App! This app essentially finds your location and lets you know the restaurants that participate with Scoutmob. I have saved quite a bit from this app and have discovered some great local businesses! UrbanDaddy App: Here is another great app that helps those of you who are extremely indecisive. It will again pick up your location and find a place to take your date or loved one to, including some of the best bars, restaurants, and events happening that night! Nifty Date Ideas App: Whether it’s your first date or you basically have run out of ideas on what to do, then this app will be your new best friend. This app is filled with creative and fun ideas on what to do for your next outing. The app even has a Video Scavenger Hunt activity!! Nifty Date Ideas is just a great app if you want to mix it up and not do the typical dinner and movie. 1800 Flowers App: Personally, I feel flowers are one of the easiest and simplest ways to say I love you or I am thinking about you, but only when you remember right?! I personally always have a thousand things on my mind and always am on the go. This app is so perfect because with a push of button you can make your mark...

Deepu + Pavan – Wedding Film Highlights from Tulsa, Oklahoma

In Tulsa, Oklahoma we got a chance to film a beautiful traditional Telugu Hindu marriage ceremony. The Hindu wedding ceremony is based on traditions and rituals originating in the Rig Veda, the earliest of the four ancient Sanskrit books of knowledge, collectively known as the Vedas, which form the basis of Hinduism. This sacred Vedic wedding ceremony is meant to unite two people so firmly that after marriage they become one in spirit even though they retain two separate bodies. The ceremony takes place in a Mandap (altar) and the flowers signify beauty and joy; the grains represent the food necessary to sustain life. The fire, representing Agni (the God of Fire), which is a divine witness to the union and brings warmth throughout the couple’s life. A Bride’s Regret – Don’t let this happen to you by D magazine

I run across this while browsing one of my favorite local wedding blogs this morning, and I had to share this with our readers. Don’t let this happen to you… Thanks to Angelia Williams Chancellor for this week’s wedding wisdom: “If I had my wedding to do over again I would hire a videographer. That was a mistake on my part – thinking that I could cut costs. Of course, we have photos, but there are moments that pictures could not capture. My wedding day was such a blur! Because of the hustle and bustle there is so much I have already forgotten. Be sure to record every moment so that you can relive your special day again and again.”...

Why ‘Jib’?

So you’re probably asking yourself, ‘what is a jib?’ Well, in cinematography, a jib is a boom device with a camera on one end, and a counterweight and camera controls on the other. It operates like a see-saw, but with the balance point located close to the counterweight, so that the camera end of the arm can move through an extended arc. A jib permits the camera to be moved vertically, horizontally, or a combination of the two. (source: Wikipedia) Now, you’re probably thinking to yourself, ‘Wow, that’s cool but how does the film look when a Jib is used?’ Well, we’ve got you covered there too! We put together a short video to help our clients understand how a Jib can add some really cool footage to their wedding film. Take a look for yourself and share with us what you think.  ...

Hakim Sons Films featured in the Evening News

Here’s the story straight from CW 33 TV. Music Industry Cracking Down on Wedding Videographers By: Giselle Phelps December 15, 2011 DALLAS, TEXAS— If you’re a bride in the market for a wedding video, listen up! Records labels are cracking down on videographers who use mainstream music without the rights. It means the chances of your wedding soundtrack including your favorite artists may be slim. We spoke with a local expert in the Dallas wedding film industry. They say this has become a huge in the last six to eight months. They’re choosing to stay clear of popular music, because buying the rights to someone’s favorite song comes with a big price tag. Rachel Verville and her husband Greg have been married just seven months. They couple still loves watching their wedding video. Verville says she wanted just the right music to capture the big day. “I didn`t want anything that would take over the video,” said Frisco resident Rachel Verville. The couple chose to stay away from popular music, opting for licensed instrumentals; a move more brides have to make. “It`s a very new territory, it`s intimidating, it`s scary,” said Hakimsons Films Managing Partner Shezad Manjee. The partners at Hakimsons films in Dallas say the music industry has been cracking down on the use of unlicensed songs in wedding videos. Earlier this year, a video of Cowboy’s quarterback Tony Romo’s wedding with a Coldplay soundtrack went viral. The band’s label reportedly sued the Austin-based filmmaker. “It`s not unusual for one of our films to get tens of thousands of views on YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook,” said Manjee. Manjee says that’s where the problem lies. “When thousands of people are watching your film and you if don`t have the rights to the music that certainly puts you in a very troublesome spot,” he said. Hakimsons films say they hire composers to produce original pieces and educated couples on the importance of using licensed songs. “I can go online and search through thousands of songs and for under $100 d purchase music that I can use for streaming and syncing, full licenses,” said Manjee. Even though Rachel and her hubby decided to play it safe, they say they couldn’t have been more satisfied. “It was one...
