Bridal Advice: Hire a Videographer for the Rehearsal Dinner

Today I read an article on one of our favorite bridal blogs, Bridal Buzz by D Magazine. Here’s advice from a bride talking about the importance of having a filmmaker at the Rehearsal Dinner along with the Wedding Day.   Thanks to Andrea Hugg Kavanagh for this week’s wedding wisdom: “Your wedding is the most special day of your life, and you spend months and countless hours planning ever single detail. Make sure you hire a fantastic photographer and videographer to capture every moment, so that you can cherish the memories for a lifetime and pass them down to generations to come. Our photographer took the time to get to know my husband, Ken, and me personally before our wedding, and because of that she was able to capture our love and our personalities in the pictures – engagement, bridal portrait, rehearsal dinner and of course, the wedding. Our videographer did an amazing job as well. He and his assistant were true artists in the way they captured and edited the entire wedding, including the bride, groom and attendants getting ready for the big event. He also provided a beautiful 12-minute “highlights” video that can be viewed online and shared amongst friends. My only regret is that we did not have our videographer at our rehearsal dinner. The rehearsal dinner was an intimate gathering of our closest friends and family, and the toasts that were made were touching, heart-felt and inspirational. It would have been so wonderful to have captured them on video.” (Source: Bridal Buzz by D Magazine)...

The Adolphus Hotel – Wedding Bliss Montage

The Adolphus: The Grande Dame of Dallas Hotels “Indulge yourself in the Gilded Age glamour of The Adolphus in Dallas. This baroque masterpiece has been a legend among America’s historic hotels since 1912, when St. Louis beer baron Adolphus Busch was approached by Dallas city founders to erect a luxury palace worthy of the Lone Star State. Style elegance and grandeur blended together in 21 stories of unabashed beaux arts splendor that critics named “the most beautiful building west of Venice.” Throughout its history, luminaries such as Queen Elizabeth II, the Vanderbilts, Oscar de la Renta, Donald Trump, U2 and Babe Ruth have chosen The Adolphus as their Dallas home-away-from-home. Magnificent architecture, first-class service and a dynamic downtown location set the stage for a truly regal experience when you visit The Adolphus.”(source: Hotel Adolphus) When you start planning your wedding and need a first-class planning service, world-class catering, and enchanting venue – The Adolphus is your answer. Whether your vision is a magnificent ballroom celebration or an intimate family gathering, their catering professionals will design the perfect Dallas wedding package, tailored to your own dreams and wishes. No detail will be overlooked! We hope you enjoy this video montage that we prepared for the Adolphus to help them showcase this prestigious venue. Anita and Ajesh’s wedding celebrations were some of the most unique our team has ever seen. The couple built up the excitement by sending all of their family and friends a movie trailer invite featuring their love story. When the time for the wedding celebrations finally came, the love story continued with a mehndi party, sangeet, puja, wedding ceremony and grand reception. There was definitely a happy ending for the newlyweds, but we wish Anita and Ajesh a lifetime full of even more love together! Our Most Extravagant Indian Wedding Ever!

This past weekend marked a milestone for Hakim Sons Films. Anita and Ajesh’s wedding celebrations topped our charts as the most extravagant Indian wedding our team has ever been a part of! We started off with producing a concept for the bride and groom. A trailer of the concept was used as part of their invitations to family and friends, and the final concept was used a prelude to their same day edit, which was featured at the reception. This wedding was so extravagant that we had up to six cinematographers and nine cameras capturing all of the fun and excitement. We also recruited a master jib operator with a 30 foot crane to help cover the event and provide unique perspectives for the unique elements of the wedding. There were fireworks, an elephant, a fortune teller, fire dancers and much more. A special thank you and congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Bhargava and their families for allowing us to be a part of their most special celebration! Megan + Cory’s Wedding Highlights

We first met Megan and Cory back in April 2010, ten months before their wedding. Soon after, our team and I had the pleasure of spending time with this genuine and down to earth couple as we filmed their save-the-date film. We couldn’t wait to celebrate their wedding with them, and it felt like the day couldn’t come soon enough. Finally, February 12th came, and Megan and Cory officially became husband and wife! All hands were on board at the wedding to surprise the newlyweds with a same day edit. Watching a cinematic rendition of the day was the perfect way to end the celebration. Unveiled and Sylvia Weinstock

This past Sunday, our team was at the Hilton Anatole for Unveiled— The  Ultimate Wedding Planning Event. The Wedding Guys, Matthew Trettel and  Bruce Vassar, have again pulled off another successful show featuring some  of the latest trends in all thing wedding. For the second year, Hakim Sons  Films was a sponsor and the official filmmaker for the event, but this year  was particularly special because we had the opportunity to meet Sylvia  Weinstock! Sylvia Weinstock is known as the Leonardo da Vinci of wedding cakes. She  has been creating the most creative and exquisite wedding cakes for over 30 years, many for celebrity clientele. If there is one word to describe Sylvia, it would be inspiring! Mrs. Weinstock has been married for over 60 years and has so much wisdom to share with married couples and soon-to-be married couples alike. She is an energetic, entertaining and gracious woman who advises all brides to enjoy the celebration of their wedding and not to get caught up in competition or comparison. When I finally had a chance to speak with her one on one, Sylvia was kind enough to invite me to have lunch with her in New York! I was absolutely thrilled with the gesture and can only hope our paths will cross again soon. Overall, this year’s Unveiled had to be the best...

Fun Wedding Facts & Traditions

Today, I was reading a blog post by our dear friends at The Wedding Party Studio and I ran into this great article. I want to credit them for this but wanted to share this with our fans and friends. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did! 1. Rain on your wedding day is actually considered good luck, according to Hindu tradition.  So if it rains, pray it pours!  One can never have too much luck. 2. Middle Eastern brides paint henna on their hands and feet.  This ornate art is believed to protect the bride from the evil. 3.  In the US, most brides have four bridesmaids, including the maid of honor. 4. Legend says single women will dream of their future husbands if they sleep with a slice of the groom’s cake under their pillows.   So single gals- ask for a slice to go! 5. Viva Las Vegas!  If Elvis and neon lights are the keys to your dream wedding, don’t plan your Vegas “I Do’s” on Valentine’s Day or New Year’s Day.  These two holidays are the two busiest days for weddings in Las Vegas. 6.  A traditional Jewish wedding ceremony takes place under a chupah, which symbolizes that the bride and groom are creating a home together.  This tradition stems from the Biblical wedding of Abraham and Sarah. 7. Hello sunshine! In Ireland, a sunny wedding day means good luck for the couple. 8.  Engagement and wedding rings are worn on the fourth finger of the left hand because it was once thought that a vein in that finger led directly to the heart.  Awww! 9.  Why something old, something new, something barrowed, something blue?  Something old is meant to represent and link the bride with her family and their past. Something new is good luck and represents success and the bride’s hopes for a bright future in her new role as a wife. The wedding gown is often chosen as the “new”.  Something borrowed represents to the bride that friends and family will be there for her not only on her special day, but also in the future when help is needed.  Something blue refers back to ancient times.  Blue was a symbol of faithfulness, purity and...
